Our Mission & Vision

We exist to equip individuals to live out the Gospel of Christ for the glory of God.

As such, it is our goal to become an organization identified with the work and message of Jesus Christ in northwestern metro Atlanta.

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ. . . Becoming a Christian

WE LOVE God and our Neighbor

Our Beliefs

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church seeks to align our beliefs and practices with Scripture. In general, the following statements summarize our core doctrinal principles:

1. The Bible

The Bible is the Holy Word of God and is revealed to man, free from error, and the sole authority on Godly life and living. (1 Timothy 3:15-17; 2 Peter 3:2)

2. God

There is one God manifest in three persons: Father, Son, and Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19)

3. Jesus

Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died to atone for the sins of man, was buried, and rose again on the third day. He ascended to heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father till the day of His return. (Luke 1:34, 35; Ephesians 1:20; 1 Peter 3:18)

4. Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit resides in the heart of every believer where He convicts and counsels the believer for the purpose of sanctification. (John 14:16-26; Acts 10:19; Romans 8:10)

5. Humans

Human beings are the special creation of God. Man was made in the image of God but through the sin of the first man, Adam, all men have become tainted by sin from their birth. (Genesis 2:7-23; 3:7-24; Romans 5:12-21)

6. Salvation

Salvation is a free gift offered to anyone who will accept it. For those that do accept it, they are everlasting secure in the hand of God and upon death they will spend eternity with Christ. (Romans 6:23; 10:8-10; Ephesians 2:8-10)

7. Judgment

Anyone who has not received God’s gift of salvation is condemned already. If they remain in this state until death, they will spend eternity in hell. (Luke 9:43-47; 12:5; John 3:18

Baptist Faith and Message (2000) The cooperating churches of the Southern Baptist Convention have prepared a statement of commonly held beliefs known as the Baptist Faith and Message (2000). This document provides a framework to understand major doctrines of Scripture. The family of FBC fully endorses this expression of God’s Word.

Pleasant Hill Baptist Church seeks to create a culture where followers of Jesus organically believe, live, and share the Gospel of Christ for the glory of God. To accomplish this, we live, serve, and make decisions based on three guiding principles.

1. We Have One Source of Authority

Scripture

For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope (Romans 15:4).

We make decisions based on biblical precepts & principles.

Does this attitude, action, or decision align with biblical truth?

2. We Have One Manner of Living

Love

Key Passage. . .
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another (John 13:34-35).

This Means. . .
We treat others the way God, in Christ, treats us.

Diagnostic Question. . .
Does this attitude, action, or decision radiate the love that God has shown to us through the cross?

3. We Have One Purpose for Being

the Gospel

Key Passage. . .
Therefore, as you received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in him, rooted and built up in him and established in the faith, just as you were taught, abounding in thanksgiving (Colossians 3:6-7).
Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of you that you are standing firm in one spirit, with one mind striving side by side for the faith of the gospel (Philippians 1:27).

Meet Our Staff

Lead Pastor

Dr. Major Dalton

After undergraduate work at Liberty University and the Harvest Institute for Biblical Studies (Tennessee Temple), Major completed the Certificate in Biblical Counseling from BCI, the Advanced Master of Divinity in Preaching & Pastoral Leadership from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and the Doctor of Ministry from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. His dissertation focused on the development of a preaching plan appropriate for persons with visual impairment.

In addition to pastoring churches in Tennessee, Texas, and Illinois, God has allowed Major the pleasure of speaking at revivals and conferences across the United States. He has taught classes in Biblical Studies and Theology, served high profile Christian communicators as a Lead Researcher for Docent Research Group, and is a regular contributor to Preaching.com and PreachingToday.com.

Pastor to Families and Youth

Josh Bush

“Love God. Love People.”

Since being called in 2011, Josh has considered this his approach to ministry. Josh has served in various capacities at different churches with a passion for reaching and equipping to teenagers to live out the gospel in their lives. He received his undergraduate degree with concentrations in Psychology and Biblical education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary in 2015 and has continued his education by pursuing his Masters of Divinity in Apologetics from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Josh has a passion for teaching and helping believers learn to “own their faith” by deepening their knowledge and understanding of God’s word. During his time in ministry, God has allowed him to lead breakout sessions at conferences and design Bible study curriculum centered around educating believers on issues such as the reliability of scripture and other apologetic issues.

Josh and his wife Kelsey have been married since 2017, and currently serve as foster parents, a ministry they have been involved in since 2019. This calling has given them both a desire to reach and encourage families as they go through life, and pointing them towards Christ.
